CEOs (or chief ethics officers) are coming

Corporate Citizenship, the specialist consultancy, has made the prediction that this year could see the rise of ethics accountability in major technology companies.

Following the breaches in trust from several social media giants such as Facebook, Uber and Google it is significant that Salesforce is hiring its first chief ethical and humane use officer. In attempting to develop a framework for the ethical and humane use of technology across Salesforce, the role also covers law, policy and ethics.

As always, exactly how to measure ethics is the difficult question, but some accountability is better than none, and trust is hard won but easily lost.
