Rampion brought online

Rampion Offshore Wind has generated power for the first time at the start of the switch-on for the turbines as they are brought online.

Work began offshore in autumn 2015 and over the last two years the construction has been progressing in all conditions. The first power signifies the start of the end of the project, with completion being in 2018.

The 400MW project has been built 13km off the Sussex coast by E.ON, UK Green Investment Rampion and Canadian energy infrastructure company Enbridge, and will provide electricity to supply almost 347,000 homes a year.

Earlier the project also announced a GBP4m Community Fund with the largest element the Rampion Fund, earmarked for community projects. This fund is being managed by Sussex Community Foundation.
