Schneider Electric reinforces supplier risk management

Schneider Electric has joined the Responsible Business Alliance (RBA), a coalition 120 companies from the electronic, retail, automobile and toy industries that promotes standards in human rights, safety and security, environmental protection and business ethics.

The decision has been made so that the company can increase accountability in its supply chain, particularly in terms of the suppliers most exposed to risks such as human rights or environmental issues, and to reinforce its commitment to the United Nations SDGs and guiding principles on human rights, as well as its own human rights policy, Schneider Electric has now introduced a new programme to identify suppliers that are most likely exposed to risks, due to their geographic situation and type of activity.

The programme is enabled by use of RBA methods and tools: Schneider Electric teams will be able to use the Verisk Maplecroft mapping tool, the RBA self-assessment questionnaire and the RBA auditing protocol.

Schneider Electric has also launched its Go Green in the City 2018, a global competition to find ideas and innovative solutions for smarter, more energy-efficient cities. In 2017, nearly 20,000 young innovators from 3,000 universities in 180 countries took part.

Olivier Blum, Chief Human Resources Officer at Schneider Electric commented: “Schneider Electric has a bold vision to solve our planet’s energy paradox. Go Green in the City was designed as a platform for young innovators to become a part of this vision. Helping students to develop their bold ideas for new sustainable solutions, and gain a foothold in our industry is a great way for us to accelerate positive change.”
