Number of B-Corps in UK surges to 2,000

The number of companies in the UK that have achieved a B Corp Certification has surged, new figures show.

In an update from B Corp Lab, the certification body said that the number of companies across the UK achieving B Corp status had more than doubled in the past 18 months.

There are now 2,000 companies in the UK holding the certification, which is rewarded to companies that can score highly on their impact on workers, customers, the local community and the environment.

Among the B Corps in the UK, almost half are based in London. A further 70 are based in Scotland, 31 in Wales and nine in Northern Ireland.

"Reaching 2,000 B Corps in the UK shows that a new type of leadership in our economy is possible," B Lap UK director of growth and product, James Ghaffari said.

"But we know there's still a long way to go. If we want the UK to continue to be a pioneer in better business, we must keep working together to go further, faster."

Some of the most well-known B-Corp’s include FatFace, Innocent, GiffGaff and Jamie Oliver Group.
