Macquarie sells smart meter portfolio

Macquarie has sold a portfolio of over 600,000 commercial UK smart meters to the Energy Assets Group.

Macquarie entered industrial and commercial metering in 2006 and has since deployed more than half a million meters into this segment – the company also has 5.4 million smart meters in the residential sector. Macquarie will continue to focus its efforts on the residential metering sector going forward having now disposed of its commercial division, Cortex Metering Solutions (CMS).

Energy Assets is an independent multi-utility metering and data services businesses. The company also designs, constructs, adopts, and owns multi-utility networks.

Julian Liddy, senior MD and head of Macquarie Specialised and Asset Finance in EMEA said: “Having played an active and founding role in the UK’s metering industry for the last 18 years, we are proud of the contribution we have made in building out the industrial and commercial portfolio to this point and helping our clients to deploy smart meters across the country. We wish Energy Assets continued success with the portfolio’s future development.”
