Planning has been approved for a 40MW battery storage project in Staffordshire.

The Cheadle Battery Energy Storage project in Cheadle will connect to the Forsbrook Bulk Supply Point and provide grid balancing for the area. Developer Balance Power hopes the facility will be operational in 2028, with construction planned starting in 2026 and operation the following year.

Founded in 2017, Balance Power currently has 32 projects with consent, 426MW of delivered capacity and 1.8GW under development.
