Access Foundation has donated £2.18m to good causes during the last financial year, its figures show.
Between April 2023 and 2024 the charitable arm of management software firm Access Group awarded 119 grants.
A focus has been to tackle digital poverty, with good causes tackling online exclusion receiving 47 grants totalling £865,000. This year’s charities focused on supporting young people, older people and those with a neurodiversity.
This includes NEPHRA Good Neighbours in Manchester, which provides support to older people. It received a grant to provide digital activities, such as iPad classes, and build online confidence.
It also donated £5,000 to United Way Romania to help children, parents and teachers receive personalise educational support and training in Romania.
A total of £1.1m was raised for Access Group’s chosen charity during the year, Magic Breakfast, which provides meals to pupils impacted by food poverty.
Earlier this year Access Group named Young Lives vs Cancer as its next charity partner.
“It’s truly inspiring to look back and see how many lives have been positively transformed through the work of The Access Foundation,” said the funder’s co-founder Piers McLeish.
“The difference we’ve been able to make, both for individuals and entire communities, reaffirms our mission.
“We remain deeply committed to understanding the complexities of the digital divide and its real-world impact on vulnerable groups.
"As we look to the future, our focus will be on continuing to support charities, organisations, and community groups that deliver meaningful change – not just across the UK, but on an international scale as well."
