BT records a quarter of its revenue in carbon reducing products and services

At the end of 2018 telecommunications giant BT pledged to become net zero of carbon emissions by 2045.

The company’s latest Digital Impact and Sustainability report outlines its progress, including cutting the scope 1 and 2 emissions by 80 per cent since 1996 and working suppliers to target a 29 per cent reduction in emissions from our supply chain by 2030 (from 2016/17 levels).

However, potentially the most impressive statistic is that BT made £5.5bn, or 23.4 per cent of its revenues in 2018/19, from products and services that enable customers to cut their carbon emissions.

The revenue of £5.5 billion is an increase from the £5.3 billion recorded in 2017and helped clients cut carbon emissions by 11.7m tonnes, through energy efficiency improvementhe ts and use of renewable energy.
