Electrolux doubles recycled materials target

White goods and kitchen appliances firm Electrolux Group has doubled its target of using recycled steel and plastic in the manufacture of its products within the next five years.

By 2030 it aims to have increased the share by weight of the recycled materials by 35%. This doubles its previous target.

“I am very proud that we have set this target,” said Electrolux chief technology and sustainability officer Elena Breda.

“It will help us drive our company’s circularity agenda through the increased use of recycled steel and plastics in our products.”

The group has also announced that it has reduced its carbon emissions in its operation by 36% in the three years to 2024.

Also during the year it has reduced carbon emission by using its products by 31%

Almost all its electricity and just under two thirds of its total energy use in its operations is from renewables.

Last year it also ran the children’s Electrolux Food Foundation’s Food Heroes initiative, to educate 81,000 children on sustainable eating.
