Energy provider launches community support foundation

Energy provider npower Business Solutions (nBS) has launched a grant giving body to support community projects in the West Midlands and Yorkshire over the next two years.

In launching the npower Business Solutions Foundation, the business energy supplier has linked up with grants and funding administrator Charis, which also works with EDF Energy and Anglian Water Trust.

Charis will manage the application process, selection process and distribute finds to successful applications.

Charities, social enterprises, and schools are able to apply for grants, ranging from £10,000 to £100,000 to back projects focusing on responsible business and boosting employment opportunities.

Promoting energy efficiency, decarbonisation, recycling and creating community spaces are among other priorities of the fund.

The grant giver is focusing on good causes in the West Midlands and Yorkshire as the energy supplier has offices in Solihull and Leeds. Applicants must be based within 50 miles of these offices.

"We welcome applications from any relevant organisation, from local schools to sports groups to community arts centres to charities, who have struggled to secure funding to turn their plans into reality,” said nBS chief operating officer Anthony Ainsworth.

“These could range from improving the sustainability of their premises through energy efficiency, creating a new space that encourages responsible business or supports wellbeing."
