Finance watchdog’s staff vote to support Dementia UK for next two years

The Financial Ombudsman Service (FSO) has selected Dementia UK as its charity partner for the next two years.

The charity has been chosen following a company wide vote at the finance watchdog.

More than £53,000 for its previous partner Sands, the stillbirth and neonatal death charity that also supports bereaved families. Activities included a skydive, Snowdon hike, football match and bake sales.

“We are absolutely delighted to announce our partnership with Dementia UK, a charity whose specialist nursing support has transformed the lives of thousands of families facing the challenges of dementia,” said the Service’s interim chief executive Jenny Simmonds.

“They were chosen because our employees believe in their mission to ensure no one faces dementia alone. With some great ideas already in the pipeline, we can’t wait to start raising much needed funds to help support their work.”

Activities during the partnership will be coordinated by the FSO’s Giving Something Back Committee. This includes providing workplace training and support for carers and vulnerability training for staff serving affected customers.

Dementia UK corporate partnerships lead Daisy Wilson said: “Through this partnership, the Financial Ombudsman Service and its employees will help raise much needed funds and awareness to help Dementia UK and our dementia specialist Admiral Nurses support more people affected by dementia, offering practical and emotional support for all aspects of the condition.”
