GE is exploring options for blends of natural gas and hydrogen at Uniper’s gas-fired power plant in Grain, Kent.
The assessment of the plant comes ahead of the Government’s proposed Hydrogen Accelerator Programme, which is funding projects that can show how industry could switch to hydrogen as the UK prepares for the upcoming Energy Security Strategy.
The project will explore solutions to enable operations using blends of natural gas and hydrogen, with hydrogen accounting for up to 40 per cent by volume, targeting the decarbonisation of Grain’s 1.4GW gas-fired power plant in the next decade.
