A neat return

Another way to save fuel and emissions is to share, so it is good news that there is a newly signed contract between paper producer SCA and refuse to fuel company Geminor, using the former’s ferries to transport 100 tonnes of baled RDF (refuse derived fuel) on the return trip from transporting paper on ferries that would otherwise be empty.

The deal means fewer trailers on the roads, lower emissions, less littering and less odour, and has been made possible by the introduction of baling technology. The ability to create easily transportable bales now opens up the possibilities for the refuse to energy operations to grow globally.
