HOTSAT-1 set to see heat losses

Thermal imaging satellite HOTSAT-1 will be launched this month on a SpaceX rocket. HOTSAT-1 is the first satellite to be launched by Sat Vu, and once in orbit their space-enabled climate technology will provide insight into economic activity and energy efficiency for a range of industries.

In partnership with designers Surrey Satellite Technologies (SSTL) the launch signifies a major milestone for Sat Vu, with HOTSAT-1 being the first of eight satellites planned for launch. Through extensive testing in the UK and Europe, Sat Vu has primed HOTSAT-1 to deliver unparalleled thermal monitoring capabilities.

"HOTSAT-1 represents a paradigm shift in commercial thermal imaging technology," explained Anthony Baker, CEO of Sat Vu. "By harnessing the unique power of infrared mapping technology, Sat Vu provides an innovative, practical solution that will revolutionise global analysis, enabling governments and commercial organisations to detect changes and anomalies across buildings and essential infrastructure, and take proactive steps to mitigate environmental impact."

HOTSAT-1's near real-time insights will illuminate the path to energy optimisation investments, offering substantial cost-saving benefits to both the public and private sectors. As satellite data already contributes to half of all climate change metrics, the inclusion of Sat Vu's infrared dataset will improve monitoring substantially.

The countdown to launch follows Sat Vu's successful completion of their A2 funding round, where they raised £13.5m. The company is now poised to reach its next commercial milestone, which will unlock new investment opportunities in their highly anticipated series B round.
