Big Blue gets greener

IBM has made 21 voluntary environmental commitments that address a range of sustainability issues, supporting IBM’s announcement that it will reach net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2030.

These 21 points include a pledge to procure 75 per cent of the electricity IBM consumes worldwide from renewable sources by 2025, and 90 per cent by 2030. Reduce IBM’s GHG emissions 65 per cent by 2025 against base year 2010 and reach net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2030.

These commitments taken together will form a comprehensive plan, including energy, water conservation, carbon, recycling and biodiversity.

In future IBM will also stop publishing a stand-alone corporate environmental report, and instead integrate environmental information info the overall IBM Corporate Responsibility Report.
