WRS Insurance Brokers has handed the Community Transport Association (CTA) a £10,000 grant towards the training of drivers in supporting the needs of disabled passengers.

The money will be used to provide inclusivity and accessibility training for drivers.

This will be person-centred and launches in Spring 2025.

“The grant will significantly contribute to the transformation of our accessible driver training and ensure that it is contemporary, user led, and up to date,” said CTA chief executive Victoria Armstrong.

“It will mean that more disabled people travelling via Community Transport experience safe, legal, and comfortable journeys across the UK in years to come."

The money has been handed by the insurance firm to the CTA as part of the Movement for Good large grants scheme run by its parent company the Benefact Group.

WRS Insurance Brokers specialises in charity, business and property insurance from “an ethical standpoint”.

The Movement for Good Awards large grants scheme provides flexible funding that can be used within three years for a blend of project and core funding costs.

WRS is working with another firm Business Choice Direct (BCD) Insurance Services to support CTA’s insurance needs.

“Ever since we started working with the CTA, I've enjoyed getting to know the members and hearing about all the wonderful work they do for their communities,” said BCD commercial director Tristan Scaife.

He added that he welcomed the £10,000 funding to improve inclusivity among community transport drivers and “cannot wait to see this come to life in the spring.
