KPMG raises £1.86m for Marie Curie

KPMG raised £1.86m during its three-year partnership with end-of-life charity Marie Curie, latest figures show.

The partnership concluded last year when the financial services firm announced its new three-year charity link up with food waste charity FareShare.

During its teaming up with Marie Curie around 9,400 of KPMG’s staff dedicated a total of 92,950 hours supporting the charity.

Fundraising activity included sponsored walks, abseiling down KPMG’s Canary Wharf office and taking part in the London Marathon.

Staff were also involved in mentoring, offering digital skills workshops and supporting the charity’s work to improve end of life care.

This included the firm’s healthcare staff surveying health officially locally to find ways to better commission palliative and end of life care services.

“It was a pleasure to work with the Marie Curie team over the past few years and to see first-hand the valuable work they do in palliative and end of life care,” said KPMG head of corporate responsibility and sustainability Roisin Sharkey.

“At KPMG, we believe in the strength of working together to drive meaningful change, and the unwavering commitment and generosity of our colleagues is evidence of this.”

Marie Curie chief executive Matthew Reed said: “We are truly delighted that £1.86 million has been raised, which will have a profound impact on the lives of so many people and their loved ones affected by terminal illness for years to come.

“On behalf of everyone at Marie Curie, I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to all KPMG colleagues who have supported the charity, by volunteering, taking on one of the fundraising challenges, to providing pro-bono expertise.”
