Metro Bank is to join forces with Teenage Cancer Trust as the bank’s chosen charity partner for the next 12 months.
With Metro Bank’s support, the charity will be able to recruit and fund a new team of highly specialist nurses to go into local communities across the country – to ensure every young person facing cancer has access to the expert, age-appropriate care that Teenage Cancer Trust delivers, regardless of where they live or choose to be treated.
Metro Bank colleagues will be organising and participating in fundraising activities throughout the year – from bake sales and raffles to marathons and mountaineering. Donations from customers made via Metro Bank’s Magic Money Machines in its 66 stores will be added to the fundraising total too.
Bank previously had a joint charity partnership with Alzheimer’s Society and Place2Be. Over the past year colleagues and customers raised around £180,000 for the two charities – exceeding the bank’s original fundraising target by £45,000. Those funds are being put to work by Alzheimer’s Society to fund a PhD research student focused on identifying a cure for the disease, and Place2Be has been able to deliver over 12,000 Place2Talk sessions across the country.
