Retailer raises more than £16,000 for Down’s Syndrome group

Retailer Booths has raised £16,000 for East Lancashire Down’s Syndrome Support Group (ELDSSG ) from fundraising activity throughout the year carried out by staff at its central office and Barrowford store.

The North of England retailer raised money for the group after it was nominated by staff as its chosen charity for 2024/25.

Fundraising included charity fun days, rounding up at checkouts and book sales.

The funds raised cover the cost of a second education specialist for the group for a year to support children with Down’s Syndrome in local schools.

This gives the children “the chance to thrive in their educational setting, ensuring every child is included and has the chance to develop and grow towards future success and independence”, said Booths.

Alan Ridout, a project manager at the retailer, added: “I’m incredibly fortunate to be surrounded by incredible colleagues who care so much and work so hard to raise amazing amounts for charity.

“This years’ experience of being able to bring information and advocacy to the workplace and to support the amazing work that ELDSSG do has been second to none.”
