Solar focus helps League One football club slash energy bills by 40%

League One football club Leyton Orient (LOFC) has cut its energy bill costs by 40% by investing in solar panelling across its London ground.

The installation follows a partnership with investor Horizon Energy Ventures and energy firm Ampergia.

Horizon explains that the ground’s 362.79kWp solar PV system, comprises of 834 JA 435-watt panels and 3 x 110kW Growatt inverters and is expected to generate nearly 246,000kWh of electricity annually.

“We’re already seeing significant savings of 40% on our energy bills,” said the club’s chief operating officer Steve Tait.

“This investment supports our environmental goals and makes financial sense for the club’s long-term future.”

Horizon Energy Ventures head of commercial Ryan O’Connell added: “The LOFC project progressed smoothly from start to finish.

“Ampergia’s exceptional execution, paired with the club’s forward-thinking, ensured the installation was completed on time, delivering impressive results and energy savings.

“This collaboration shows how ambitious sustainability projects can succeed with the right partners and financial support.”
