The West Midlands Gigafactory is progressing with has appointed EV recruitment CEO Steve Doyle as the project’s skills ambassador.
Powered by 100 per cent sustainable energy with direct access to a net-zero transport and logistics infrastructure, the proposed Gigafactory site will create up to 6,000 new highly skilled jobs directly and thousands more in the supply chain, with the potential for 60 GWH per annum. The project mission is to create the UK’s largest battery Gigafactory and play a major role in securing the future of the automotive industry.
The Gigafactory, a public private joint venture between Coventry City Council and Coventry Airport, sees a skilled workforce as a vital part of its plans, and Doyle will be engaged on a consultancy basis with his main focus still being CEO of EVera Recruitment, Europe's only dedicated Battery and EV recruiter.
Behind the joint venture sits an alliance of West Midlands industrial groups, local government and academia. This alliance includes the West Midlands Combined Authority, Warwick District Council, Warwickshire County Council, Rugby Council, Warwick Manufacturing Group at University of Warwick, Coventry University and the Manufacturing Technology Centre.
