Zara to use sustainable fabrics before 2025

Zara owner Inditex has announced that the Zara brand will switch to fully sustainable fabrics in the next six years, with other brands in the portfolio to follow.

The commitment was made at the company’s AGM, and makes Zara, the first major high street store to adopt the stance. Operationally Zara is in an almost unique position to enforced the commitment, having its own manufacturing factories and ‘just in time’ stock system utilising local suppliers.

Inditex is already a strong proponent of clothes banks, with nearly a thousand stores maintaining them, and partnering with charities to redistribute the collections.
