Budget will grant £20bn for clean energy

Chancellor Jeremy Hunt is expected to grant £20bn for carbon capture and clean energy in the forthcoming Budget, as well as reclassify nuclear energy as environmentally sustainable in order to help attract private finance.

The new was broken by the ‘i’ and the news site believes that the Chancellor will attempt to make a series of positive interventions to help secure cheaper energy for the UK. bIt is expected that there will also ne good news for the SMR (small modular reactors) championed by Rolls-Royce.

The $20bn will be released over 20 years, will also help cement in commitments to reaching the UK’s net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.
