Sky News has reported that Boris Johnson has stated that there is “no time to waste” in dealing with climate change as the Prime Minister stats to consider a post-COVID economy, the forth coming COP 26 summit and a widely predicted earlier ban on new internal combustion engine vehicles.

Speaking with a year to go to COP26, Johnson said: "There is no greater duty for any nation than protecting our people and our planet,” and called on world leaders to put forward ambitious pledges to reduce greenhouse gases.

The UK itself us expected to announce a ten-point plan to tackle climate change, and following its announcement of the Environment Bill, which is designed to clean supply chains and will make it illegal for businesses to use commodities such as soya and cocoa grown in contravention of local laws aimed at preventing deforestation.

Reacting to Boris Johnson’s warning Muna Suleiman of Friends of the Earth said: “The Prime Minister’s forthcoming ten-point plan is a real opportunity to show his commitment to a zero carbon future, but he must abandon climate-wrecking policies too.”
