OVO Energy and Ørsted sign power purchase agreement

OVO Energy has entered into a Power Purchase Agreement with Ørsted to buy green power from the offshore Barrow Wind Farm.

OVO Energy will purchase 100 per cent of the power from the 90MW capacity Barrow Offshore Wind Farm. By the end of 2021 OVO Energy is aiming to increase the amount of renewable electricity backed by UK renewable electricity generation to almost 40 per cent.

Ben Blake, CEO of OVO Energy said: “We’re proud to work with Ørsted on a major power purchase agreement. In the future, we’re committed to exploring how we can source more energy from renewable generation here in the UK, supporting the industry and helping to drive down costs.”

In October 2020 OVO announced its move to 100 per cent renewable electricity and planting a tree on behalf of every member for every year each customer is with the company.
