Big tech donates for COVID-19

Ten major tech companies have pledged to donate $1.4bn to help contain the Coronavirus. An analysis from Learnbonds.com places Google at the top of the list with about $800m that will be used to support businesses, organisations and healthcare workers as part of its coronavirus response that also includes free advertising on its various platforms.

The top five is completed by Cisco pledging about $225m, Facebook with $120m, Netflix has set aside $115 million for the creative community as a coronavirus relief fund and the Dell Foundation has pledged $100m.

Other notable donations to fight the COVID-19 pandemic have come from Amazon ($32m), Samsung ($29m), Apple ($15m), Microsoft ($1m) and Twitter ($1m).
