Tech4Good celebrates technology winners

The 2023 Tech4Good Awards have been announced. Created by UK disability charity AbilityNet, the awards celebrate people and organisations using tech to make the world a better place.

The nine Tech4Good Award category winners will receive dedicated support and resources to help them on the next stage of their tech journey such as networking with other winners and finalists, crowdfunding programmes and mentorship from industry leaders, supporters and AbilityNet’s experts.

Judged by a varied panel of judges, including this writer, winners included AXS Passport, a digital tool for sharing accessibility and inclusion requirements that won both the Workplace Inclusion Award and the audience overall winner vote on the night.

Other notable winners were in the Ageing Society category that was won by Milbotix for its SmartSocks that incorporate sensors and AI to helps carers intervene earlier and provide an alternative to other wearable devices that are more likely to be removed, the AI For Good Award winner C2-Ai, which deploys AI to reduce NHS waiting lists, and the Community Impact Award that went to BanktheFood for an app tells donors what their local foodbank needs the most while they are doing their shopping.

The Awards were presented by AbilityNet head of marketing and communications Mark Walker who commented: “We are surrounded by stories about the harm that digital technology can do. The Tech4Good Awards celebrate the amazing people and organisations who use tech to make the world a better place and solves today’s challenges.”
