ClientEarth shifts to net zero emissions

ClientEarth has appointed Alice Garton to lead its new Climate programme after three years of heading up the organisation’s Company & Financial Project.

The Climate programme will engage with governments and the financial sector to ensure climate policies and investment strategies line up with the Paris Agreement. Within the programme there are two main streams: The Climate Accountability stream will help drive governments and companies to mitigate and adapt to climate change through building new climate laws and policies. A major point is that it will seek to ensure companies’ capital allocation decisions are consistent with a net zero emission future.

The second stream, called Climate Finance, aims to ensure financial flows are consistent with keeping global temperature rise down using existing company and financial laws to drive the financial sector towards sustainable and low-carbon investments.
