London Luton Airport has launched three-year charity partnerships with two charities.
It will fundraise and its staff will volunteer for the National Literacy Trust, which supports children, as well as adults with their literacy skills. This including working with local schools
.
It was chosen as the airport’s national charity partner following a selection process coordinated by local charity group Bedfordshire and Luton Community Foundation.
“The funding raised by this partnership will help us to give more children and young people who need it most the tools to get the most out of life and the power to shape their futures,” said National Literacy Trust chief executive Jonathan Douglas.
Also being supported is Tokko Youth Hub, a Luton based charity that supports young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) as well as young parents. This includes universal and targeted support.
Its chief executive Aimee Djengiz said: “We are immensely proud to join forces with London Luton Airport (LLA) as a Community Partner. Our mission to engage, encourage, and empower Luton’s young people to aspire, be happy and healthy aligns perfectly with this collaboration.
“As one of the town’s largest employers, LLA’s support will be invaluable as we focus on enhancing youth employability skills and opportunities in 2025, ensuring a bright and successful future for Luton’s next generation.”
Tokko was chosen following a vote by the airport’s staff.
“The work of these two wonderful charities aligns perfectly with London Luton Airport’s commitment to drive engaging, impactful education and skills development initiatives that can support the key career pathways that are so vital for young people,” said the airport’s chief executive Alberto Martin.
“Both charities also perfectly complement Luton Council’s Luton 2040 vision to build a healthy, fair and sustainable town where everyone can thrive.”
