Birmingham Airport has announced a three year partnership with Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity.
The deal has been agreed as part of the airport’s commitment to support a local charity through fundraising, as well as offering time and resources.
The charity has been chosen after a vote held by the airport’s staff, who met with several local charities during an open day.
Through the link up airport staff will take part in fundraising and volunteering for the charity. The airport will also involve its suppliers and stakeholders in supporting the charity’s initiatives.
“We are thrilled to support Birmingham Children's Hospital Charity as our nominated charity for the next three years,” said Birmingham Airport chief executive Nick Barton.
“Our colleagues voted in droves, demonstrating their desire to support young people in need and recognise those that make that care possible day in day out.
“We are extremely proud to be a partner and see what we can do to support this incredible charity that makes a difference to so many, every day.”
The charity’s chief executive Mark Brider added: “One in eight children from the West Midlands is treated at our world-class hospital every year, meaning many of the airport’s employees have had first-hand experience of the incredible care that’s delivered daily.
“Through this wonderful partnership, we hope to increase the awareness of our charity, showcase our hospital’s world-leading treatment and support our brave patients. Together we will transform lives.”
