EVs accounted for 4.2 per cent of the global light-vehicle sales in 2020 compared to 2.5 per cent in 2019. The top 15 countries with the highest EV share were all European. Norway leads all nations by a wide margin at 74.8 per cent plug-in EV share of new passenger car sales in 2020. Iceland was second at 45 per cent, followed by Sweden.
The UK was in twelfth equal place with Belgium at 10.7 per cent, China sixteenth place (6.2 per cent) and the US below China at 2.3 per cent.
