The Royal Bank of Canada has been named as an official event sponsor for the annual London Landmarks Half Marathon (LLHM), which raises money for pregnancy and baby charity Tommy’s and other good causes.
Organisers have announced that the bank’s sponsorship is the event’s largest corporate link up to date.
It is hoped that this year’s event, which takes place on 6 April and takes in a raft of well-known landmarks in the capital, will raise £16m for charities.
“Royal Bank of Canada’s support of major running events globally makes this sponsorship a natural fit, reflecting its dedication to championing impactful charity initiatives that promote health and wellbeing,” according to organisers.
“This resonates perfectly with LLHM’s mission to create an event that benefits the charity sector, while celebrating London’s rich cultural heritage and bringing together its diverse communities through fitness.”
As well as raising money for Tommy’s the event also benefits more than 680 charity partners.
To date it has raised more than £54m for good causes.
“All of us at Royal Bank of Canada are thrilled to be partnering with Tommy’s on the 2025 London Landmarks Half Marathon, a fantastically unique event that celebrates London’s history while benefiting hundreds of charities,” said the bank’s global head of sustainability and impact Desiree Clarke Noble.
As part of its sponsorship there will be a branded water station and a 100 strong team from the bank and its clients will take part.
In addition, Tommy’s will provide staff at the bank with educational sessions, volunteer opportunities and visits to its pre-term birth centre to increase awareness of its work.
Race director Lia Fyles added: “Royal Bank of Canada recognises the importance of physical and mental health, supporting a broad range of community initiatives through charitable donations, community investments and employee volunteer activities.”
Last year nearly 19,000 runners took part in the event, which raised £14.7m for good causes.
