IKEA to give £1 from every sale from children’s range to baby banks

IKEA is to donate £1 from every sale from its Skogsduva children’s range to the Baby Bank Alliance, which supports the UK’s 300 baby banks.

The baby banks offer disadvantaged parents the chance to access vital items for their babies and toddlers including warm bedding, winter coats, boots, books and playmats.

Last year baby banks supported more than 200,000 babies and young children with more than 1.2m items donated to families.

The furniture store chain will donate £1 from the sale from the range to the Alliance until the end of December. This applies to in store and online purchases of the range, which includes soft toys, furniture and bedding and is based on Swedish forests.

“We're proud to partner with the Baby Bank Alliance and through our donation, we hope to make a tangible difference in the lives of thousands of families in need across the UK,” said IKEA UK partnership lead Hiliary Jenkins.

Survey of 1,000 parents of young children carried out by the Baby Bank Alliance last month found that two in five families have less disposable income than last year die to the cost-of-living crisis.

A third are concerned about their income and a similar proportion are concerned they do not have enough time to play with their young children.

Baby Bank Alliance executive lead Hannah Pentith added: “We are delighted to be partnering with IKEA to help us in making a difference for babies and children across the UK.

“Baby banks are a vital lifeline to families in the UK who are really struggling with rising pressures and costs of essentials. This winter is set to be hard for families, and we’re seeing more demand for baby banks than ever before.

“The support from IKEA will enable baby banks to reach even more families and help the Baby Bank Alliance on our mission to ensure that every child has access to the essentials they need to thrive.”
