ITV has announced its intention to reduce its carbon emissions by 46 per cent by 2030, in line with a 1.5C science-based emissions scenario.
A part of the company’s Social Purpose Strategy, the announcement is an indicator of its desire to assess and improve its carbon emissions, waste, supply chain, and culture.
ITV is committing to reduce scope 1 and 2 carbon emissions by 46.2 per cent in line with a 1.5C science-based emissions scenario, scope 3 emissions by 28 per cent, in line with a well below 2C emissions scenario, becoming a zero waste and zero single use plastic business, and running a 100 per cent sustainable supply chain, all by or before 2030.
In terms of its culture, the company is committing to all programmes produced and commissioned by ITV to be Albert certified by 2021. The Albert Sustainable Production Certification is a certification for a film or television production's efforts to reduce waste and its carbon footprint.
ITV has also announced that it will be joining RE100 later in the year.
