Ireland to plant millions of trees

Ireland will plant 440 million trees over twenty years as part of the Irish government's Climate Action Plan.

The plan will require around 20,000 acres of land every year, and it is likely to encounter some opposition from the agricultural community. The plan follows on from Scotland’s recent announcement that it has planted 11,200 hectares of new forest between 2018-2019, beating targets and helping rebalance its targets having fallen short the previous year.
