NatWest adopts SBTi

The NatWest Group is publishing targets validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).

The targets will cover a wide range of the Group’s activities, including its own operational footprint, financing activities, lending activities and investment activities.

Alison Rose, CEO of NatWest Group, said: “I am delighted that NatWest Group has become the first UK bank, and one of the largest banks globally to date, to have science-based targets validated by the SBTi. This validation is an important step in our journey to implement our purpose-led strategy and ambition to be a leading bank in the UK helping to address the climate challenge.”

SBTi is a voluntary paid service which has independently validated the NatWest Group’s 2030 physical emission intensity targets as science-based targets set in line with the validation criteria and recommendations of the SBTi Financial Sector Science-based Targets Guidance (August 2022) (the “SBTi FI Guidance”).
