Aldi pens two year deal to support Salvation Army charity shops

Supermarket Aldi has linked up with The Salvation Army to supply its non-food products to its charity shops.

Through the two-year partnership Aldi will supply the charity’s shops with kitchen accessories, home furnishings and clothing at a reduced cost.

The move follows a year-long pilot between the supermarket and the Salvation Army Trading Company, which raised more than £350,000 for the charity through the sale of Aldi products in stores.

“We’re committed to doing all that we can to support our local communities and it’s great to be able to support The Salvation Army stock their stores,” said Aldi national sustainability director Luke Emery.

“We know the profits raised will provide vital funds for the charity to continue its ongoing work to support those who need it most across the country.”

The Salvation Army’s head of corporate partnerships Kirk Bradley added: “We are delighted to partner with Aldi to offer some of its products in our stores.

“This partnership will contribute to providing a vital funding source for our charity as well as great quality products to our customers across the UK.”

Aldi also provides surplus food to charities through its partnership with Neighbourly. This link up has seen the supermarket donate more than 40m meals since its launch six years ago.
