The Allianz Sports Fund has donated £50,000 to local sports clubs in support of diversity and inclusion initiatives.
Launched in 2021, the scheme allows insurance broker partners to nominate a local sport club or team that takes part in an Olympic or Paralympic sport, for a donation of between £500 and £3,000.
This latest round of funding supports 43 clubs, and brings total donations so far to £150,000 across 122 sports clubs.
Funding beneficiaries include Aquila Taekwondo, London; Thanet Wanderers Rugby Union Football Club, Kent; Penzance Tennis Club, Cornwall; and Beacon Hill Football Club, Surrey (pictured).
Neill McWilliams, frame football coach for Beacon Hill Football club, said: “With this donation we look forward to building throughout the next season and beyond. This incredible donation will have a real impact enabling children with Cerebral Palsy to enjoy football.”
Carolyn Rich, head of brand and social responsibility, Allianz Insurance added: “As the Worldwide Insurance Partner for the Olympic and Paralympic Movements, we are passionate about the power of sport. It’s been fantastic to receive so many broker nominations in this third round of applications, demonstrating that the scheme has really gained momentum.
“This year we took the opportunity to support clubs who have, or would like to have, programmes which focus on diversity and inclusivity. We know the important impact that sport has within a community and we’re very happy to support the amazing work local clubs are doing to ensure everyone can benefit.”
The next round of funding will provide support to clubs looking to implement new initiatives and improve coaching. Nominations open on 5th September.
