China plots mega offshore windfarm

Chaozhou has been chosen for a proposed 43.3GW offshore wind farm, under a five-year plan, a huge installation with enough power to provide energy to entire countries.

Work could start by 2025 on the windfarm, to be sited around 100km off the coast of the city, on the Taiwan Strait.

China has been building offshore windfarms at a furious pace recently, in part to secure its energy needs as the country grows and in part to meet net-zero targets.
