Alok Sharma praises progress, but doubts results

Countries need to be doing “a lot more” if they are serious about containing global warming, according to Alok Sharma.

The president of COP26, has said that “the world is not on track” to meet targets including the Paris Agreement.

Speaking at Windsor Castle after receiving Knighthood, Sharma acknowledged that thee had been progress in the fight against climate change, but warned that the forthcoming COP28 would be an important benchmark of overall progress and that he expects that to reveal that existing efforts are not good enough.
