The Prime Minister has made his New Year’s speech, placing innovation at the heart of positive change.
Citing innovation as being responsible for around half of the UK’s productivity increase in the last 50 years, he implicitly included energy security and the target of net-zero as two major challenges that “will be solved by innovation”.
Sunak was in an upbeat mood, channelling optimism and in a speech that, not surprisingly had considerable focus on the NHS and cost of living, he ensured that the climate remained fully on the agenda.
