Hundreds of extra volunteers will be on shift at the Samaritans over the next few years following funding from Three UK.
The telecommunications company has given the charity a donation of £150,000 to support its call for more volunteers, as part of the firm’s partnership with the charity.
This latest batch of funding helps to support the Samaritans Training Programme, a project designed to make the charity’s volunteer training more flexible and accessible for new recruits.
It will help the charity to recruit and train a further 300 listening volunteers and will equate to around 13,000 hours of volunteering and 50,000 calls from people who need support.
The firm has been working with the charity since 2021 and, with the addition of the latest funding, brings the total partnership fundraising figure to over £590,000.
Three UK chief commercial officer, Elaine Carey said: “At the heart of both organisations is the importance of communication and using the power of human connection to make people’s lives better.
“Samaritans Training School represents that synergy as we support Samaritans with the evolution of their service to help more people access emotional support, 24/7, 365 days a year.”
