CHS Group, a charitable housing association and social enterprise based in Cambridgeshire, has been awarded £949,000 by the government’s Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund to boost Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) ratings in its homes.
The funding, which forms part of the second wave of the Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund, will allow CHS Group to install external wall insulation, cavity wall and loft insulation top-ups, new energy efficient double-glazing, front and rear door replacements, LED lighting and ventilation where it is needed across its homes.
Following the works, monitoring equipment will also be installed in a number of CHS Group property types to measure the overall increase in thermal performance and reduction in carbon.
Alongside this, the organisation has committed to setting up workshops, visits and open days to provide its tenants bespoke, in-home energy advice and full training on how to use the new technology and improvements effectively.
CHS Group's director of homes Tina Warren said: “We are delighted with the outcome of this bid. The significant funding will enable us to make lasting changes and upgrades to our homes that will improve the overall quality of our properties, and ultimately, support our tenants to achieve a better quality of life.
“We are committed to providing high-quality homes for our 7,000 tenants and we take pride in our ability to innovate and deliver sustainable, climate friendly services. A huge thank you to our staff who collaborated to secure this successful outcome.”
