Battery Manufacturer E-Storage has agreed a deal with Engie to build and deliver 226 MWh DC of energy storage for projects in Scotland. The company, a subsidiary of Canadian Solar, will construct energy storage projects for the two sites in Cathkin and Broxburn.

Both sites will be connected to the network and are scheduled to reach the grid by early 2025.

The two BESS projects will use Canadian Solar’s SolBank, their proprietary containerised energy storage solution that uses high-cycle capacity lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) cells, active balancing battery management system (BMS) and thermal management system (TMS).

Aidan Connolly, Head of Engie Battery Storage UK, commented that: “ENGIE is targeting 10GW of global battery storage by 2030 to help facilitate the energy transition, and these two Scottish projects are another step on this journey."
