LIIBA hosts ESG-themed STEM Insurance Week

Insurance broker trade body, LIIBA, has announced the return of its STEM Insurance Insight Week, with ESG as its theme this year.

Conducted throughout half-term this month, with support from Marsh, LIIBA will offer over 40 pupils aged 14 to 18 the opportunity to gain an insight into this diverse and vibrant industry.

The virtual experience, supported by broker and risk advisor Marsh, aims to capture the imagination of potential future STEM leaders. Throughout the week, participants will be coached by a variety of professionals from across the sector, including consultants, actuaries and technology experts. Pupils will learn about the role the industry plays in driving societal change, with talks on how advisory and insurance solutions can support clients on their sustainability journey whilst protecting them from changing climate and sustainability risks.

Jacqueline Girow, associate director of LIIBA, said: “LIIBA is really proud to be offering our STEM Insurance Insight Week for the second time. We look forward to welcoming a whole host of students from across the UK, helping to continue to drive forward our diversity and inclusion efforts. Amidst a rapidly changing risk environment, it’s important we open up the insurance industry to young people and highlight the opportunities for them to apply their STEM knowledge.”

Nicola Hughes, senior assistant general counsel at Marsh, added: “Marsh is thrilled to support this event aimed at inspiring the next generation, regardless of background, to join our vibrant insurance industry. With young people increasingly focused on making a positive impact on the world around them, we also hope the event can showcase the role insurance can play in advancing the ESG agenda.”
